The Nokia X3 Touch and Type for a little while now, and it’s turned out to be an outstanding little phone. We’ve seen more and more smartphones with touchscreen of late, and a lot of them are large and ideally suited to browsing the internet.
The most noticeable aspect of the Nokia X3 Touch and Type is the size – compared to the latest smartphones it’s tiny, thin and compact. The 2.4-inch screen doesn’t add anything to the overall size, and its inclusion allows Nokia to leave out a navigational D-pad.
Instead, navigation of the Nokia X3 Touch and Type’s S40 OS is carried out using the touchscreen. It’s a resistive panel, responding to pressure. As such, you’ll be able to use it while still wearing gloves, or using any other implement – unlike capacitive panels.
The plastic coating has a slightly rubberized feel, creating slight friction when you’re scrolling through icons. It lacks the fluid feel of a screen like that of the Nokia N8, but it’s still quick and easy to use.
Tapping the screen to press OK, for instance, soon becomes second nature, and it feels strange going back to a feature phone without a touchscreen. Web browsing is also excellent, being easy to scroll down quickly and accurately.
Although the touchscreen on the Nokia X3 Touch and Type doesn’t feel quite as necessary as it would on a large smartphone such as the Nokia N8 or Nokia C7, it’s still a very welcome inclusion.
