According latest information Apple iPad 3 will be available by the year 2012. Well the Apple iPad 3 will have the same retina display as used in the current Apple iPhone 4. As per the report released in January it will have screen resolution of 2048x1536 pixels which is four times better than the current Apple iPad 2. Budding technology which is AMOLED technology will be integrated into Apple iPad 3 which will enhance the battery life of device.
Market for AMOLED technology is currently dominated by Samsung which is indeed one of the competitors of Apple iPad 3. So company will be required time to integrate their new device with AMOLED technology and this will delay the schedule for its launch.
